Our Story
The EMS Foundation of Whatcom County is a 501(c)3 non-profit based out of Bellingham, WA. Our organization was founded in 2022, from the generous support of a local community member. The core of our efforts is to provide funding for EMS provider education and medical research. Through all of our endeavors we hope to improve the future of pre-hospital care throughout our county.
"It was Father’s day and the family had gathered for a family tradition of lunch at Semiahmoo. Shortly after it all began, the father slumped over and went down. The staff at Semiahmoo are trained in CPR, as were his sons. Staff went for the AED (they have 2) and a nearby Physician came to assist. It was no simple task. Eventually, a pulse was brought back, and our ALS Team began transport. He fibrillated (coded) again in route to the hospital but was shocked back to a functioning rhythm. After receiving care at St. Joseph’s Hospital, he is now back to work full-time. His life has returned to more than normal. We tell you this because this family is one of the first donors to our new foundation. They say they will do so annually. You too can make a difference for the people in our community through your donations. Give now to support the future of EMS." -Marvin Wayne M.D.
